T-U-R-T-L-E Power

Just got back from seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Damn good movie. The animation was beautiful and the acting was on par with the animation. Nothing weak about it. The TV spots made it look otherwise though. Some of the jokes were a bit edited from the TV spots but all and all I was happy with the result.

I never read the comic either. I will eventually, but I just never cared to. I grew up with the cartoon. The heroes in the half shell haven't changed a bit.

Mikey is still cranking the jokes.
Leo is still the leader, not so much ass kissing in this time.
Donnie is still the smart techy of the group and in a genius move his job is tech support.
Raph is still the stubborn loner. What teenager can't relate to that?

And here is a secret. But don't tell anyone. He's the Nightwatcher.

Casey Jones. Still that street vigilante and I love him that way.
April hasn't changed either. But now Casey and April are living with each other while dating.

So lets get to the plot shall we?

Every 300 years the stars aline and unleash and army of (13) monsters. So after Max Winters screwed up he becomes immortal and the plot of the movie becomes "Get the monsters back in the portal to all the curses brought on by the portal will be broken. But in the process the four brothers need to unite again.

The best part of the movie comes toward the end though. (87 minute long movie). We really get to see Raph and Leo duke it out. And I don't mean a couple punches. We really get to see them duke it out. First punches and kicks. Then swords and si's. Beautiful fight and beautiful animation and the rain only made it look more dramatic. And there was even a winner of the fight. So we finally get to see Leo use his swords.

Not so much with Mikey and the nun chucks though. Yeah, I know, but head butts in the UK equal an automatic R. Some may find that silly, but I am sure Europe finds it silly that America will allow plenty of violence and no sex.

Animation was beautiful, sometimes it looked real.
Acting was just fine for the movie except for a couple spots but nothing major.
Plot is old and cliche but it's a CGI movie. It's fine for it.
Time was a not even an hour and a half. I could have dealt with more drawn out story, but it was still good. Only time I was wanting the movie to tend was at the end when it got slow.

So in conclusion. I give this movie two thumbs up, lets say 7/10. I really enjoyed it. Not as much as 300, but I did enjoy it.

TURTLES! TONIGHT WE DINE AT PIZZA HUT!
