T-U-R-T-L-E Power

Just got back from seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Damn good movie. The animation was beautiful and the acting was on par with the animation. Nothing weak about it. The TV spots made it look otherwise though. Some of the jokes were a bit edited from the TV spots but all and all I was happy with the result.

I never read the comic either. I will eventually, but I just never cared to. I grew up with the cartoon. The heroes in the half shell haven't changed a bit.

Mikey is still cranking the jokes.
Leo is still the leader, not so much ass kissing in this time.
Donnie is still the smart techy of the group and in a genius move his job is tech support.
Raph is still the stubborn loner. What teenager can't relate to that?

And here is a secret. But don't tell anyone. He's the Nightwatcher.

Casey Jones. Still that street vigilante and I love him that way.
April hasn't changed either. But now Casey and April are living with each other while dating.

So lets get to the plot shall we?

Every 300 years the stars aline and unleash and army of (13) monsters. So after Max Winters screwed up he becomes immortal and the plot of the movie becomes "Get the monsters back in the portal to all the curses brought on by the portal will be broken. But in the process the four brothers need to unite again.

The best part of the movie comes toward the end though. (87 minute long movie). We really get to see Raph and Leo duke it out. And I don't mean a couple punches. We really get to see them duke it out. First punches and kicks. Then swords and si's. Beautiful fight and beautiful animation and the rain only made it look more dramatic. And there was even a winner of the fight. So we finally get to see Leo use his swords.

Not so much with Mikey and the nun chucks though. Yeah, I know, but head butts in the UK equal an automatic R. Some may find that silly, but I am sure Europe finds it silly that America will allow plenty of violence and no sex.

Animation was beautiful, sometimes it looked real.
Acting was just fine for the movie except for a couple spots but nothing major.
Plot is old and cliche but it's a CGI movie. It's fine for it.
Time was a not even an hour and a half. I could have dealt with more drawn out story, but it was still good. Only time I was wanting the movie to tend was at the end when it got slow.

So in conclusion. I give this movie two thumbs up, lets say 7/10. I really enjoyed it. Not as much as 300, but I did enjoy it.

What ever happened to movies?

I remember back in the day people used to watch movies for entertainment? What ever happened to those days?

Now the only thing I ever hear is "remakes suck and so do sequels".

They wouldn't if you would open up your mind and try watching a movie for what it is meant to be. Just simply entertainment. So what if a sequel isn't as good as the original. Lets look at it this way.

A movie gets rated 8/10. Then lets say the second movie gets a 6/10. Since when does a 6/10 equal a bad movie? I never understood that. You should be going into the movie to be entertained not be be moved to make a new life choice.

Then again, maybe it's just the Internet. I know the Internet is full of retarded douche bags but I wonder how much is simply because it is the Internet.

The Internet is just this giant ball of negativity. All I ever hear is "this sucks" and "that sucks" and then they start talking in this retarded language called "leet". Yeah, it makes them look dumber then a two year old special-ed child.. And that is pretty dumb.

So this was kind of a mixed rant. Oh well.

Try going to see a movie with an open mind next time you see one, try watching it for entertainment. And then when you leave and get online to tell everyone how much it sucked, if you ask nicely I will help pull the trigger to help clean out the gene pool. Yes, I do have some evil in me. It wasn't always like that. It's thanks to working in retail. But that is a whole other story.

Top Four Of All Time

So, I think most know I loved 300 alot. I even said it is my favorite comic book movie of all time. So that got me thinking what my favorite movies of all time are.

So here they are.

#1 The Land Before Time. (Along with the whole franchise)

This is my top film and top animated film.

It's the first movie I remember seeing when I was little. Every time we went to rent movies this was the same one I choose each time. I loved it still do. Hell one day my Mom came back and I was wondering why the case was in plastic wrap. It's because that was the first movie we ever bought. So not only does it have sentimental value to me but I love it. It's the one movie franchise that has never gone the way of controversy. It simply teaches good moral. If I ever had kids Land Before Time will help raise them. I love it and all the sequels. And this movie eve came out before all the computer animation.

#2 George A. Romero's 1968 Black and White Night Of The Living Dead. (Along with the whole franchise)

Second best film. Best scary movie.

I saw this for the first time a few years ago. I stayed up Halloween night watching scary movie on HBO or Cinemax, some movie channel. This popped on. First though. Black and white? This is going to be a laugh if not put me to sleep. Oh how wrong I was. Not only was it not funny, not only did it not bore me. It scared me. That’s right it scared me. probably still would. And it’s black and white to top it off. I know first hand being born in 84, my generation got spoiled with color and most of us like it and get turned off when it’s not in color. But this was amazing.

I think my generations closest and maybe the closest the world will se in a long time when it comes to quality scary/horror/suspense movie franchises is going to be the Saw franchise. But Romero’s created the Zombie genre.

#3 300.
Best comic book movie of all time and third best movie.

Reason? Simple. I read the comic and it was alright but I wasn’t big on it. I watched the trailer and was amazed. I went into it really hyped but sure I was going to leave disappointed. I loved it the more I thought about it. The second time I saw it I loved it more. It was a beautiful movie that deserves an Oscar for best picture among other things. it won’t get it thanks to a prejudice academy. But what makes this movie even better is the fact that not only is it based on true events. But it’s based on events that we all owe a debt of gratitude toward. Without King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans (Among other help they had) things would look far different. Click here for some thoughts on that part. Or try this link. This one was done by the History Channel.

#4 Ghostbusters (Both can work)

Fourth best movie. Best comedy.

I decided I needed a comedy on the list. I liked two alot, but the ghost granny stealing the baby...hell the baby constantly getting screwed around with scared me as a kid and still does a tad from when I was a kid. But lost of people rank Ghostbusters as the funniest movie of all time and for good reason. When you’re a kid it’s a damn good movie. When you get older you understand alot more of the jokes. Bill Murray kicks ass in it also. Just my kind of character. Sarcastic and a smart ass. Hell all the characters had a bit of that in them.

So their you have it. My top four movies of all time.

And for some respectable movies that are damn good but not on the list.

Lets throw in, in no particular order.

Top Gun, Saw 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Independence Day.

300 Review

Words really can't describe this movie.

Wait, yes they can.

Amazing.

That's one word actually.

Lets' throw in great. That makes two and my statement true.

This was trully an amazing movie. The only thing I am dispointed with is that the movie won't be nominated for an academy award. It deserves to win best picture.

I won't go into spoiler details, but it reall is an amazing movie.

Acting was great.
Story was great.
FX were great.
Directing was great.
Action was great.

I honestly can't find a flaw in the movie now that I think about it more.

And their is something for everyone. Women get to see 1/2 naked men with six packs. Men get to see top notch action and over the top gore.

But don't let the over the top part scare you away. It works for the movie. These Spartans are fighting with swords and spears, so it feels very acceptable seeing persians getting spears shoved through their body and seeing limbs falling off.

Their is some sexual content and nudity. Which I enjoyed. There are plenty of movie with much more sex and nudity. And make no mistake about it. The sex scene that had nudity was a real love scene. It was between the King and Queen. Not two people that met a few days ago and are already in love thanks to a movie plot.

This movie was amazing.

Go see it.

For some 300 news.

300 Makes 27.7 Million Opening Day!
Source: ShowBIZ Data
March 10, 2007

In what could turn out to be one of the most astounding box office stories of the year so far, ShowBIZ Data is reporting that Zack Snyder's adaptation of Frank Miller's Greek war epic 300 has earned an estimated $27.7 million on its opening Friday, including midnight previews and IMAX receipts.

This could be a watershed opening for Snyder and Warner Bros., who took a big chance on the stylized film based on Miller's graphic novel after the failure of Oliver Stone's Alexander at the box office in 2004, but it's a good sign that Snyder's next proposed project, an adaptation of Alan Moore's Watchmen, will be fast-tracked come Monday morning.

Although 300 had a bigger opening day than last year's Ice Age: The Meltdown, which currently holds the March weekend opening record with $68.03 million, the guy-friendly movie is also likely to be more frontloaded to Friday, which means it might be a close one if it's going to break that record for the weekend.

300... and 70 Million Dollars!
Source: Box Office Mojo
March 11, 2007

ComingSoon.net has posted the weekend box office estimates and Warner Bros. Pictures' 300 set a new March record!

Director Zack Snyder's adaptation of Frank Miller's epic graphic novel 300 set a new March record with an estimated opening of $70 million from 3,103 locations. Starring Gerard Butler as King Leonidas who leads the Spartans against the massive Persian army, the movie surpassed previous March record holder Ice Age: The Meltdown, which collected $68 million its first weekend last year. Budgeted in the mid-$60 million range, the Warner Bros. release also marks the third-highest debut ever for an R-rated movie, trailing just The Matrix Reloaded ($91.8 million) and The Passion of The Christ ($83.8 million). It is now also the top opening of 2007 so far, beating Ghost Rider's $45.4 million from February.

R.I.P. Steve Rogers?

Yeah, I don’t buy it. I think it’s a Marvelous publicity stunt. But I don’t buy it for one second. I think Cap is the new Ronin.

Allow me to elaborate my opinion on both sides of the story.

Side A.

Steve Rogers is not dead.

Front lines shows him alive and well On the Raft which is a Maximum Security Prison located at Rykers.

In Civil War The Initiative Spider-Woman mentions that Cap is dead. Ms. Marvel claims other wise.

Now their is either a giant continuity error here or Steve is really dead. Which leads me to......

Side B

Steve Rogers is dead.

Or perhaps Ms. Marvel is talking about the new Cap. No doubt if Steve Rogers is dead that there will be a new Captain America.

Who would be the new Cap though? With Iron Man/Tony Stark looking for a new Cap that would be pro reg would there be anymore?

I hope there would.

Frank Castle was shown having a man crush on Cap before. And at the end of Civil War Frank even picked up Cap’s mask. Marvel has already stated that the topic will be addressed more in punisher War Journal.

So how many Captain America’s will there be? And will the Marvel Universe civilians accept both?

If not who will they accept?

Probably not Frank “The Punisher” Castle, but I will be rooting for Frank, unless perhaps they choose a hot female for the role. But I doubt they will. And U.S. Agent is on Canada’s Omega Flight now.

So if Captain Steven Rogers/Captain America is truly dead )At least for a little while. Then Rest In Peace Cap.

I say he will be the new Ronin though.

“But Cap would never say “Yo, Cage”

Yeah, what’s your point? They gave Echo a man suit so people would automatically think Ronin was a girl.

And the apparent Death Of Captain America has Ebay in a frenzy.

If you go to Ebay and search “Captain America #25” you might crap your pants. For buying one copy of each cover at the comic shop it might cost you $8. Selling it on Ebay could sell for $100.

This is Marvel's Offical Pulse News on the death of Captain America.

And I now leave you with the cover to Captain America Fallen Son Feautring my favorite Super Hero.......

The Amazing Spider-man
