Seeing how the mainstream press reacts when someone who might have played Counter-Strike pulls a gun on somebody, how would they react when one takes a bullet trying to stop a crime?
This past Sunday twenty-four year old Adam Mapleson rushed to the aid of a female security guard outside a railway station in Essex England, who was being robbed at gunpoint by two mask-wearing thugs, taking a bullet to the chest in the process. Now in stable condition at a local hospital, police are calling the young man a hero.
Combine his passion for black metal music with the gaming favorites (Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike, GTA) found on his MySpace (courtesy of GamePolitics) and you've got a school shooting waiting to happen according to some people I could mention, and here he is trying to save the day.
Of course one could argue that playing computer games might have dulled that little voice in his head that would normally tell him to sit his happy ass down and not rush men with guns while unarmed, but taking a page from anti-gaming press coverage of the past I'll ignore that possibility and simply add, "Go team!"

Forgot
I watched 28 Weeks Later.
I loved it. I wasn't sure walking into it with a run time of about 91 minutes according to Fandago and my local theater. But I really did enjoy it. I think it was better then the first one. I'm looking forward to 28 Months Later also (Yes it really is happening).
Apparently there is some controversy and outrage over a certain image. It's the one below.
Some people are really pissed about it. I in turn think I am going to buy it now just to piss those people off. It's pricey ($125), but I do like it for obvious reasons. I never planned on buying it but it is a really nice sculpt. I don't know if I am going to buy it but as I said, maybe I will in hopes of pissing a lot of whiny people off. More angles of it can be found here.
Now I guess people complain that women are treated as sex or.....I really don't know why people bitch about the way women are handled in comics. There are two things that separate the way women are shown in comics from the way that men are. Boobs and sometimes they wear less clothing. Those are the only differences. Women are not typically shown in a weak manner anymore. They puts them on equal footing with the men in that area. Yes their clothes can get skimpy, but so can the guys. Yes they are shown with perfect bodies and big boobs. And you know what/ The guys are shown with perfect bodies also. I mean Professor X manages to have six pack abs when he has spent the better part of his life in a wheel chair. Women are not treated any different from the guys in comics or most mediums in today's world.
Maybe I have missed the point though on why people complain about the way they are shown in comics. If I have then feel free to tell me and I will tell you exactly how they are shown no different then guys. Equal rights people. You get it in every form not just the ways that work best for you.
This statue has a good chance of being purchased also.

Jane Pulls Out of The Punisher 2
Jane Pulls Out of The Punisher 2
Ain't It Cool News received a note from Thomas Jane which says that the actor has pulled out of Lionsgate's The Punisher 2. Here's a bit from the letter:
What I won't do is spend months of my life sweating over a movie that I just don't believe in. I've always loved the Marvel guys, and wish them well. Meanwhile, I'll continue to search for a film that one day might stand with all those films that the fans have asked me to watch.
Click the link above to read Jane's complete note.
This makes me sad. I find The Punisher to be one of Marvel's finest movies. And for Tom Jane to leave the movie.....damn it. That sucks. If the sequel ever does get made I still plan on seeing it even without him in it. But damn it that sucks. Tom Jane was damn good in that movie. Just maybe Lions Gate will get their act together and start this film up and maybe do something to convince him to return. But as it stands Tom Jane will not be in Punisher 2. :(

First off let me say this. Some of you will be annoyed by this and flat out won't agree. I saw the first two. I hate them. Spider-man is my favorite hero and I think they have done a poor job putting him on screen.
Now I will white text my actual review. Just know that I was not even a little happy with the movie. If you want to know the full details read below.
I will say this. If you don't read the comics or know any history about the character you could very well enjoy it just as the same with any book, doesn't have to be a comic.
I just watched it. That movie was very painful to watch. Not only the worse of the three, but it had nothing good about it. Not even action. The acting was a joke, the writing was a joke, the story was a joke. I mean good God that movie was horrible. Eddie Brock? More like Eric Forman with a backbone. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, I figured I would at least get some nice action like in the second one. But not even that. Venom? Where? I saw mean Eric Forman in a black costume. And the dance scene in the place MJ was singing at. Good God. What the hell? And the whole "look at me dance through the street having all the girls look at me.". That movie was flat out horrible. Now I have a really bad taste in my mouth. I think I should go watch a marathon of Elektra, Catwomen, Batman & Robin and Open Water.
Yeah, the movie was really that bad. Maybe even the worse movie I have seen. I never thought I would see something as bad as Open Water but I might have just found it. I want my my 2 1/2 hours back. Hell it took two hours for anything decent to happen. And saying the final battle is decent is really a huge compliment that it doesn't deserve based on the previous two hours of horrible movie. Nothing positive to say about this movie. Not one single damn thing. Horrible movie.
I now know what people mean when they say they feel that their child hood was just molested because it really was that horrible beyond recognition.
Oh my God. How could I forget the horrible ending. The way he beat the symbiote. What a joke.
And thanks to theLPgoonie for the image.
